Local World Table op Material Xperience
One design fits all.
10 tafels. 10 x anders. Een van de highlights op het komende evenement Material Xperience (27-29 januari in Ahoy Rotterdam) is de presentatie van de Local World Table; een concept van ontwerper Gerard der Kinderen. Het gaat om 10 tafels van telkens een ander materiaal: o.a. leer, bamboe, glas, zink, acrylaat en epoxyhars. Een visueel én tactiel spektakel.
Gerard der Kinderen timmert met zijn merk ZinX stevig aan de weg; zowel in binnen– als buitenland. Hij is pas een jaar bezig, maar had al presentaties in Milaan, New York, Parijs, Londen en Tokio en Seoul. Zijn Local World Table concept wordt nu i.s.m. Materia groots gepresenteerd op de komende Material Xperience beurs.
Local World Table Het idee achter het tafelconcept is simpel: een tafel die op verschillende plekken ter wereld lokaal wordt geproduceerd, met lokale materialen door lokale bedrijven. Gerard der Kinderen: ‘ik lever de ontwerptekeningen en de vier beslagdelen waarmee ‘iedereen’ een Local World Table kan maken. Onafhankelijk van het gekozen materiaal geven de aluminium beugels de constructie haar stabiliteit. Zo ontstaan er afhankelijk van de lokale ambachten, specialismen en toegepaste materialen lokale tafels die overal verschillend zijn, maar wel mijn handtekening dragen.’
Material Xperience Gerard der Kinderen heeft voor de uitvoering van de tafels voor Material Xperience contact gezocht met diverse materiaalleveranciers. Zo is voor de leren tafel samengewerkt met Hulshof leder en voor de bamboe tafel met Moso. Gerard der Kinderen: ‘ik heb getracht zoveel mogelijk groene en natuurlijke materialen te selecteren voor dit project. Want duurzaam, milieuvriendelijk en recyclebaar zijn drie belangrijke pijlers voor mij als ontwerper.’ Alle getoonde Local World Tables zijn vooralsnog ook verkrijgbaar via ZinX, het eigen meubelmerk van Gerard der Kinderen. Maatwerk altijd mogelijk.

ClothTable has been selected as ‘Official Table Tokyo Designer’s Week’ 2007. 31 Oct. – 4 Nov. 2007. The 100%Bar space at 100%Design Tokyo will be filled with 32 Special Edition ClothTables.
